Company:
The past decades have seen a tremendous expansion of the
global economy and the resulting demand for energy is rapidly
accelerating. Currently we depend on fossil fuels to produce
almost 85% of the world’s energy. Increased air pollution and
accelerated climate change are side-effects of our
dependence on fossil fuels, and rising fuel and energy costs
are becoming an increasingly heavy burden on consumers.
Farasis Energy, Inc. was founded to address the challenges of
achieving sustainable delivery of energy with minimal impact
on the environment through the development of new
renewable energy sources, and highly efficient energy
conversion and storage technologies. Our diverse portfolio of
clean technologies ranges from advanced battery and fuel cell
components and systems, to efficient bio-based energy
production.
Energy Storage: New lithium primary and rechargeable
battery systems based on our patent pending materials and
safety technologies will offer dramatic increases in energy and
power density, run time, and cell safety over current
commercially available systems.
Energy Conversion: We have developed a unique high-
throughput fuel cell catalyst screening technique and is using
it to accelerate the discovery the next generation of fuel cell
catalysts. We are also developing new fuel cell systems that
integrate microbial activity and fuels production with
electrochemical power generation.
Energy Production from Renewable Feedstocks: Farasis is
developing new biocatalysts for the economical conversion of
cellulosic feedstocks to fuels and chemical building blocks.
Our innovative technologies will meet the critical demand for
new, clean energy solutions that will enable sustainable,
efficient and environmentally friendly delivery and use of
energy in the 21st Century.

People:
Dr. Yu Wang – CEO
Dr. Yu Wang is co-founder and Chief Executive officer of
Farasis Energy. Prior to founding Farasis Energy, Inc., Dr.
Wang held a number of key development and management
positions over his 15 year industrial career. He has extensive
experience in battery product development, high-volume
manufacturing and marketing. He has worked at two of the
major Li-ion battery manufacturers in North America, NEC Moli
Energy and PolyStor Corporation, where he has been involved
in the large-scale production, commercialization and marketing
and sales of a number of successful Li-ion battery products.
In his most recent role, he was the Director of Research and
Development at Polystor Corporation and Chief Cell Designer.
Dr. Wang earned his PhD from the Lisbon University of
Technology and did his postdoctoral research at the University
of British Columbia.
Dr. Keith D. Kepler – President/CTO
Dr. Kepler is co-founder and President and Chief Technical
Officer of Farasis Energy. He has an extensive background in
materials research and Li-ion battery development. Previously
he was the Director of Advanced R&D at PolyStor, a former
high-volume lithium-ion battery manufacturing company based
in the US, where he was responsible for developing next-
generation technologies for the company. While there he led
their multi-year, multi-million dollar Partnership for a New
Generation of Vehicles (PNGV) Program funded by DOE, GM,
Ford, and Daimler-Chrysler to develop high-power, polymer-
gel Li-ion battery technology for hybrid electric vehicles and
was also awarded and managed an Advanced Technology
Program (ATP)– NIST funded effort to develop the next
generation of ultra-high-capacity Li-polymer gel cells. Dr.
Kepler received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin,
Madison and worked at DOE's Argonne National Laboratory in
the Battery Development Group prior to joining PolyStor.
