Auxiliary Power Units
Auxiliary power units (APUs) are used by vehicles such as semi-trucks or large luxury buses, allowing the passengers or the driver access to amenities while the vehicle is parked. Most auxiliary power units use lead acid batteries, which only run for ~2 hours.APUs are systems that should deliver a long runtime in the smallest possible space. Farasis Li-ion batteries have a significantly longer
battery life when compared to lead acid. In one large recreational vehicle, Farasis Li-ion batteries delivered a runtime of 10 hours, a 5X improvement over lead acid. And while that vehicle would have required a lead acid battery that weighed 1500 lbs., its Farasis counterpart was closer to 500 lbs., a 3X improvement. This substantial reduction in weight also improved the vehicle’s fuel economy while driving.
